Brim's Vintage VW Restorations

East Coast's Finest Volkswagen Restorations

Back in June, we were excited about getting the "JJ Jem" into the spray booth! With a significant amount of work needing to be done before this became reality, we have now had the car hanging from the perches in the spray booth and she looks terrific! Here are updated photos with her ready for primer and as of this writing, the base coat color and clear coats have been applied.

For continued perspective, I have left some "THEN' photos so you can see the progress side_by_side photos.

If you go the the "NEXT PAGE" from John and Julias Jem, you will see her all pretty hanging in her new look of Marina Blue!

We are now 2 years into this job and as documented, our estimates for completion were blown from what we found during tear down (The primary reason we really don't like making hard dates for delivery). We know John and Julia are about DONE waiting for this car to be done, however, like a fine wine, nothing is rushed and no car leaves the shop before it's time (most importantly, until we are 100% confident it meets our stringent - arguably to some, unreasonable - completion expectations)

That's John in the background saying goodbye and getting his last look at her in-the-rough!

THEN: Back in June, we had grafted in German Quarter.

THEN: In June, the Passenger Side underwent the same surgery as the driver side.

THEN: (June) Inside view. This also has been since welded and Body Sealed like factory.

THEN: Everything tied in, quarters to NEW rockers!

THEN: New Apron... You would never know it was even replaced! We won't talk about the number of hours spent on this to fit the way it does! Let's just say it was not counted in hours!

TODAY: She is all blocked and ready for the booth! A major milestone in this restoration project. As you will see, the trunk area is completed as well. If you think back on all the fabrication and welding it took to get to this point, indeed, this is a major milestone in the project.

Here is the front trunk area! Absolutely factory!

Looking from the rear, all done, ready for final color and clear coat. This entire firewall, apron, and rocker set is OEM replaced metal, blended flawlessly into the body structure of the car! Really nice!
